Surf Sports

Mets has a proud tradition in surf sports competing at Sunshine Coast Branch, Queensland, Australian, and International championships.

Mets provides a range of surf sports opportunities for its Members – juniors (U8 to U13), youth (U14 to U15), Seniors (U17, U19, and Open), and Masters (ages 30 to 75 and over).

Mets competes in surf sports events ranging from surf (swim), board, ski, surf boat, and beach flags and sprints. There are also opportunities to compete in surfboard riding, IRB racing, pool rescue, march past, and lifesaving and surf rescue events.

Mets provides a surf sports coaching program to its Members with access to race craft and gym facilities.

The Mets Surf Sports Manual defines how we run our program including the expectations we have for our athletes including a commitment to patrol obligations.

Australian Champions

Our first Australian gold medalist was Gordon Jefferey, a three-time Olympian (1964, 1968, 1972), in the 1960’s. Mets has since continued to excel at Aussies in individual and team events.
